Ole & Steen VFX Video
This project was made in collaboration with Oskar (oskar.edit). We conceptualised the idea purely to test and have fun with our creativity. I was responsible for 3D modelling and texturing, a recreation of the Ole & Steen coffee cup, as well as the “actor” for the video. Whilst Oskar handled the cinematography and editing with Keys (stopmotionkeys) as an assistant.
So cool, we love this 👏

Behind The Process
I modeled the cup using Blender, using online references from Google to accurately replicate the original design. After completing the cup, sleeve, and lid, I streamlined my workflow by excluding details that wouldn't be visible in the final render, such as the engravings on the top of the lid. Since these would remain unseen, there was no need to bake them into the model. I also focused on keeping the poly count as low as possible to optimize the model for VFX, ensuring it was efficient for rendering without sacrificing quality.
After completing the modeling process, it was time to shoot the video. We chose the Ole & Steen on Charing Cross Road as our location, aiming for a spot that provided a large window with a clear view of the city, in which we can place the 3D model onto. After a few (alot) takes we wrapped up, leaving the VFX work in Oskar's hands. You can check out his full process here:
Overall, it was a fun project that has definitely sparked my interest in creating or being involved in more VFX projects in the future.
